Boeing is proud to have been one of the presenting sponsors for the 2018 Abbotsford International Airshow, which took place from August 10th to 12th, 2018. The annual airshow, featuring an array of performances and demonstrations by heritage, military, and civilian aircraft, draws over a thousand aviation enthusiasts from around the globe annually to Abbotsford International Airport YXX in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
This year, attendees were treated to showcases both by Abbotsford Airshow staples, such as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks Parachute team, along with the highly-anticipated US Navy Blue Angels, who returned to perform at YXX for the first time since 2003. A number of aircraft were on static display, including the Boeing F/A-18 SuperHornet and Boeing 737, for aviation fans to get a closer look, and in some cases, climb on board with the help of the aircraft’s pilots and crew.
Boeing Vancouver, Boeing Ottawa, and Boeing Winnipeg were pleased to jointly host our staff, clients, dignitaries, and family and friends in the Boeing Corporate Chalet at the event. In addition to enjoying full show-ground access, which included the static aircraft display, dozens of the region’s best food trucks, and entertainment for kids, Boeing guests watched the show from the best seats in the house – the front show line – and had the opportunity to meet some of the performing pilots who dropped in to share their experience as aviators.
For aviation enthusiasts dropping by the chalet, Boeing team members were on-hand to help create custom Boeing luggage tags as event souvenirs and answer questions about Boeing’s presence in Canada and particularly in nearby Vancouver, from where many of our 200+ local staff, friends and family travelled to enjoy the show. They join approximately 2,000 Boeing employees across Canada who work on many of the aircraft that were on display during the 3 day event.
As a sponsor of the Abbotsford International Airshow, Boeing continues its commitment to community outreach and supporting Canadian private, commercial, and military aviators and enthusiasts, both today and in the future. Many thanks to the show organizers and performers for yet another fantastic airshow!
